The hard work of over 1500 hours put in by me and my team of Amritha, Balaji, Madan Prakash, Ganapathy, Sudarshan and many others for the last one year saw its fruition on 17th November 2005 when the book and CD-ROM- 108 Cine Ragams were released at an elegant function at Ragasudha Hall in Mylapore.
Four eminent persons- Randor Guy, distinguished film historian: Vidyasagar, well-known music director of films : Unnikrishnan famous Carnatic musician as well as playback singer and Rajiv Menon, noted film Director and Cinematographer, my wife Mrs. Amritha Parthasarathy, who is also the publisher and a sizeable audience all from varied fields but connected by the common thread of Carnatic music were there. The function was very ably compered by my niece Urmila Devanathan. The release function was followed by a Carnatic Music concert for an hour by S.Kasturirangan (disciple of Padmabhushan Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan) and party.
The book release was preceded by a press conference held over lunch at TNCA Club, Chepauk on 16th November 2006. The coverage by the media, particularly in The Hindu and New Indian Express generated a good response for the book. On 28th November 2006, Amritha and I hosted a lunch in our new flat to everyone in my office who assisted us in making the book and releasing it.
